Auto Carpet Mats: How to Install the New Ones
Auto carpet mats can be purchased custom molded which can be fitted the form of your vehicle’s floor pan.
So you don’t need to buy the flat automotive carpet and try to fit to the ridges and bumps of your vehicle’s floor rather you can simply
remove out the old carpet and drop in the new auto carpet mats. Buying pre-formed automotive carpet will make the job much easier.
Once you feel that the old car carpet has relaxed, you can begin to install the new auto carpet mats. Definitely the first step will be the
removing the older carpet from the auto.
You can remove it with the sill plates by the doors, seat tracks and seats if they are holding down the floor and the center console.
Basically anything that is holding down the floor will be needed to remove in order to remove the carpet.
Then just remove the carpet and keep it aside for a while you may need it again so don’t just discard it. You can also remove the old padding
after removing the carpet. Be sure that you don’t remove any body installation from the floor.
Most of the auto carpet mats come in the slightly oversized and don’t have any pre-cut holes. So when you are going to install the new one you
have to do little work for making the pre-cut holes.
For trimming and cutting the auto carpet mats there are two methods, you can choose one of them which you can easily manage. First way is easy
to do that you only need to take your old carpet and place the new carpet on it and then just mark and cut out the holes.
You will have to be careful that not to cut too much from the edges or over cut the holes. The second option is to place the new carpet on the
contours of the floor and then trim out the extra carpet. This method will provide you more accurate results as compared to first one.
